Broken Spearpoint

Broken Spearpoint is a Keepsake that will make Zagreus impervious to damage for a short time after being hit. It is obtained by giving Patroclus a gift of Nectar. Its effects can be enhanced by clearing enough encounters with the keepsake equipped.

Unequipping the Broken Spearpoint between levels will remove its effects.

Effects[ | ]

After taking damage, become impervious to damage for 1/1.25/1.5 sec. Refreshes after 7 Sec.

Bond Message[ | ]

From Patroclus; you share an Enlightened Bond

He passed bitterly from mortal life, but with you, rose above it all.

Notes[ | ]

  • Wearing the Broken Spearpoint while talking to Patroclus can trigger the following conversation:
    • Zagreus: “This spearpoint that you gave me, Sir, it’s been quite useful. Though I have to ask you: Is there any particular significance to it? Most spearpoints aren’t imbued with power such as this.” Patroclus: “Oh, that. Just something I’ve been meaning to get rid of, but…it can be difficult discarding trifles from the past. Knowing it’s provided you some benefit is welcome news.”
    • Zagreus: “Did you once wield a spear yourself, Sir? In your fighting days?” Patroclus: “Did I once wield a spear? You could say that I did. I had my moments with it anyway, even once slew a demigod. He’s probably somewhere about. Quite awkward, running into those you killed. But in Elysium it’s all taken in stride.”
  • The demigod Patroclus killed is Sarpedon, son of Zeus and Laodamia (for more see Wikipedia, or The Illiad (Bk XVI:426-507 The death of Sarpedon)).
  • The Broken Spearpoint could reference the Illiad, either the blow delivered by Euphorbus to his back, or the fatal blow by Hector to his belly. The effect of becoming impervious to damage likeweise could reference the Illiad, as Patroclus managed to retreat into the Myrmidon ranks after the first blow, before Hector targeted him (see The Illiad, Bk XVI:777-867 The death of Patroclus).
